Pompeii is a really cool place to visit while you’re in Italy. It took an entire day to take a train ride there from Rome, enjoy the site, make a quick stop in Naples, and then back to Rome.

When visiting Pompeii in early summer I recommend light clothing, comfortable shoes, and a bottle to refill water with.

The actual site is a quick 10 min. walk from the train station. The location of the ruins is so large itself so be prepared to do lots of walking! Also, grab a map because it can get quite confusing trying to find your way.
