2016 Closet Clean Out

It’s the start of a new year and it’s time to get rid of the old items that haven’t gotten any love since 2013. Waking up every morning to a clean and organized closet will motivate you to get up and start your day.

So rise and shine darling because we’re about to clean out that closet of yours.

Donate vs. Resell
Go through all the items in your closet and separate clothes that you no longer wear into two piles: items you can donate or items you can re-sell.

If you haven’t worn an item in over a year, it’s time to give it a new home.

Now that you have your two piles you can take a trip to your local goodwill to donate your unused clothes. You can also resell your clothes on sites like Poshmark or a local used clothing store. I suggest searching for ones in your area.

Expect to get only a few dollars back on your used items. However, it is better to resell for only a small amount rather than it just sitting in your closet.

Also go through your unused jewelry and/or accessories. These can be resold as well.

Organize by Department, Class, Style, and Color
This may seem like an obvious thing to do but you’d be surprised to know that some people don’t organize their closets.
Itemize your clothes by narrowing down on styles. So, not only do you put your bottoms in one drawer, stack your jeans together by wash, cut, or fabric.
Hanging Items

If you have a lot of hanging space in your closet, use it as much as you can. You will have fewer items to fold and prevent wrinkles.

Now, you will be able to find all your items easily when you’re getting dressed in the morning. Good luck and happy new year!
